Visa’s insights into the metaverse have already been a reality in USM since its launch
In a remarkable testament to its commitment to innovation and community-driven development, the United States of Mars (USM) ecosystem is actively exploring the opportunities outlined in Visa’s recent research report, “Unlocking the Potential of the Metaverse.”
Visa’s research delves into the vast possibilities of the metaverse, a virtual collective space poised to redefine human interactions and unlock new avenues for value exchange, collaboration, and success in the digital era. The report identifies three significant opportunities within the metaverse: gaming, commerce and retail, and education. Remarkably, the USM ecosystem has been diligently working on these very opportunities since its inception.
Roberta Isfer, Executive Director of Innovation for Visa in Latin America and the Caribbean, highlighted the importance of this report in shaping the metaverse’s future. She stated, “As we envision the potential of the metaverse, this new report provides a foundation for stakeholders to collectively define the future of this space. It helps create truly immersive, interconnected, and inclusive experiences with technology, contributing to the prosperity of all in this competitive digital world. With recent advancements, especially in spatial computing, the metaverse is rapidly becoming a tangible reality, and at Visa, we are looking ahead to unlock the endless possibilities of this transformative technology.”
Three Key Metaverse Opportunities: Gaming, Commerce, and Education
The Visa report identifies three major opportunities within the metaverse:
1. Gaming and Entertainment: The metaverse is primarily accessed for gaming and entertainment. Interactive and immersive experiences, virtual concerts, popular games, live performances, and sporting events are reshaping traditional entertainment. Users are also realizing the immense potential of virtual games to earn money through blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
All of this has already been developed in USM, a metaverse in which users can enjoy music concerts, watch films, meet up with friends, play virtual games, participate in sports competitions, interact, explore and develop new experiences. This metaverse potential highlighted by Visa is our core strength driving our growth and development in USM.
2. Commerce and Retail: The metaverse holds the potential to evolve into a thriving “metaeconomy” where digital assets and virtual currencies have tangible value, transforming commerce and retail. Virtual marketplaces can create immersive shopping experiences, mimicking real retail environments. Real-world applications, like virtual fitting rooms, enable customers to explore and try on virtual products and make purchases in the virtual space.
